Discover the Itria Valley

Discover the Itria Valley, also known as the Trulli Valley, a valley dotted with charming white-lime villages with a fairytale atmosphere where you can lose yourself in beauty. A land that is still authentic welcomes you with its expanses of olive trees as far as the eye can see, where the hands of time seem to have stopped and everything is done without any hurry. A land of ancient traditions and with a strong link with the natural environment. It extends between the provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto and includes the municipalities of Alberobello, Carovigno, Cisternino, Fasano, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Ostuni, …

Alberobello

Alberobello, also known as the "capital of the trulli", is a fairytale place, a small gem of land set in the Valle d'Itria, an expanse of over 1,500 trulli that since 1996 have featured on the UNESCO World Heritage List. To visit it in the best way, you will have to wander and get lost in its characteristic lanes, all the places not to be missed are at short distances, between evocative lanes and views to photograph.
Not to be missed:

  • The Sovereign Trullo, located in the northern part of Alberobello, behind the Church of Santi Medici Cosma e Damiano. It is the only two-storey trullo and is set up with original furniture from the early twentieth century.

  • Rione Monti, the trulli district located on the south side of the city that boasts the greatest concentration of trullo cones and is the most characteristic panoramic place of the city, which will transport you in a fairytale dimension. The Trullo Siamese is worth visiting: two trulli in one, just like two Siamese twins!

  • Rione Aia Piccola, the smallest neighbourhood in the historic centre of Alberobello. Here there are about 400 trulli for residential use.

  • The Belvedere Santa Lucia is the most evocative observation point in the city, an unmissable panorama where you can see the picturesque trulli from above

ostuni

Ostuni

Ostuni is the white city of Puglia, a small jewel of the Itria Valley to be explored in one day. A labyrinth of lime-painted streets and walls where you will happily get lost.
Not to be missed:

  • The panoramic point of Piazzetta Martiri delle Foibe, to enjoy the best view of Ostuni. A beautiful and poetic glimpse where you can admire the village perched on the hill and surrounded by green meadows.

  • The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, located in front of the Stoppa Arch and positioned in a small square, is in Gothic style and has a huge rose window on the facade, which is among the largest in existence. Do not forget to go and photograph the house with the blue door, just a few steps from the cathedral, the most photographed door of Ostuni, which in its sea blue stands out among the white of the walls.

  • Marina di Ostuni, Ostuni is not only a historic centre, but also a seaside resort that offers tourists beautiful beaches and breathtaking coves. Among the most beautiful coves, we suggest Torre Pozzella and Costa Merlata (also Dog-Friendly!)

  • An original and fascinating way to discover the city is to climb aboard an Ape Calessino (a Vespa for three people) and let yourself be driven by expert drivers through the white evocative alleys of the historic centre, the colourful balconies and the Aragonese walls. A unique, inimitable and eco-friendly service!

Zoosafari

The Zoosafari di Fasano in Puglia is the first zoo wildlife park in Italy and among the largest in Europe in terms of the number of species present. There are many species, ranging from tigers to lions, from Tibetan bears to elephants, from antelopes to giraffes, from bison to deer, from zebras to camels, and finally the lake of pink flamingos. One of the most beautiful features of the Zoosafari is the visit aboard cars and buses along a safari to the various wildlife areas of the park. An exciting experience that makes everyone feel like a child again. But it does not end there, because adjacent to the wildlife area there is Fasanolandia, a cross between an amusement park and a Luna Park and the sea lion aquarium that houses Seals, penguins and sea lions, which organises educational sessions to get to know our marine friends more closely.

polignano a mare

Polignano a mare

Polignano a Mare, the village of Domenico Modugno, is a real poem. Famous for its extraordinary position overlooking the sea, for its wonderful natural caves and for its characteristic old town covered with rhymes and verses.
Not to be missed:

  • The staircase that leads to an incredible terrace from which you can admire the most well-known and widely photographed place in the city: Lama Monachile.

  • Go through the ancient door of the Arco Marchesale that will take you to the heart of the historic centre consisting of alleys, lanes and little squares. Connected to the Arco della Porta are the main squares of Polignano a Mare where all of city life takes place: Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi and Piazza Aldo Moro.

  • Do not miss a visit to the old Jewish ghetto, which can be reached from via Giudea, here you will find the former Cathedral, the church of Purgatory and the Chapel of St. Stephen, a beautiful little church nestled between the lanes and overlooking the sea. From here, the view from its terrace overlooking the sea is wonderful.
